These rules are designed to reduce landfill waste, conserve resources, and support a cleaner environment. Requirements vary by property type, so it’s important to know what’s expected.
Mandatory Compost Recycling
California law now requires many businesses to separate and recycle their organic waste. Under AB 1826, businesses generating as little as 2 cubic yards of solid waste per week must arrange for organics recycling services. This includes proper disposal of food scraps, landscaping debris, and compostable paper in an effort to reduce landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

If you have additional bags or cans that won’t fit in your cart, please call us at (707) 996-7555 or email us before your pickup day to schedule collection. To keep service running smoothly for everyone, we’re unable to pick up extra waste without advance notice.
